Logo Design
Madison College:
Writing Center
Don't you love a good logo redesign? As the designer, you already know what the client doesn't want, and knowing that helps them know what they're looking for. In the case of the Writing Center at Madison College, they wanted to go from basic and straightforward, to a real brand personality.
I was struck by the concept of collaboration as the inspiration for this design. In meeting with the client, they really emphasized the fact that they didn't want students to just come in for paper edits and leave. They want students to truly bring something to the table. In this way, they offer a richer learning experience to benefit the student in future writing endeavors. I thought about two speech balloons coming together like a Venn diagram. Two ideas finding understanding and common ground. I like to explore a few more options before landing on what I want to develop further. In this case, the speech bubbles won! Brand colors were determined to further emphasize the blending of two ideas. I feel that red and blue have the highest contrast in terms of temperature, and when they come together they make a beautiful purple! This project was part of a logo competition, and this was the design they decided to move forward with.
