Logo Design

Madison College:
Professional & Continuing Education

When Madison College's continuing education went from "School of" to simply "Profressional & Continuing Education" the logo needed a bit of work. The client wanted something that could stand out independently from the college, as there is often a need for distinction between the two, while at the same time, it must fit in with and directly reference the overall branding of the college. Working with the credit side's lead graphic designer for approval, I developed a logo that heavily references the Madison College logo, while allowing it to stand on its own.

The idea was to create something that looked like it extended beyond the college itself. This would speak to their demographic of students that want to further their educational pursuits for advancing in their careers or personal purposes, but something outside of a full degree offering. I took the silhouetted shape of the Madison College shield and duplicated it down and to the right, giving a sense of multiple levels. I had in mind the idea of turning the next page on your education, which is where the arrow pointing onward came from. The typographic treatment is a pretty spot-on replication of the Madison College logos' type treatment, as to refer back to the original brand. The client also wanted the brand to be a bit more colorful, so we decided on different color treatments for each of their 3 semesters. This gives the brand a bit more life throughout the year, while the logo changes on social media platforms and e-mail correspondence.
